I come from that working class generation of the 60s and 70s, and have always had a strong reuse and make do ethic. People didn’t have everything that they wanted back then. Life’s amenities weren’t so disposable. It was long before people became aware of what modern day living was doing to the planet.
I can’t bear waste, and as I have quite a creative mind, I love to repurpose things and make them into something useable again.
Here at Tea and Cake for the Soul, I like to share ideas of how you can reduce waste and repurpose things rather than throw them away. I show you some of my upcycled furniture projects, and fun ways to make art from things that are broken or no longer wanted.
I write about important eco issues, some that are very much in the media at the moment, and some that might not be so openly discussed. Many of my articles will have money saving opportunities as well as an environmental impact.

That guitar is impressive, I must say! Great post.
Hubby and I are big into recycling. There is so much waste, it’s truly a crisis at this point in my humble opinion.
I’ve always been amazed at what some people can create with recycled materials. Are you familiar with the pocket books made of recycled paper, etc? It’s pretty neat!

I love the combination of reusing waste and being creatively active. I have this (still very vague) dream of one day building a tiny house completely out of waste materials. Not only would that give me a good feeling, to put these materials to use again, but it should also mean saving a lot of money on timber, steel, glass, whatever, that I would otherwise need to buy in a store. But again, it’s still a vague dream 😉

A fantastic collation of your posts. I think there’s a lot to be said for reducing waste and upcycling, and over time I think society has become more conscious of how we’ve bought more, thrown away more, and need to make a change. No wonder there’s so much said about our “throwaway society”, so inspiration for how to reduce this is fab! xx

I love upcycling things! I make sewing projects out of old jeans like bags and pencil cases. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve repainted and repurposed various items of furniture. I’m such a hoarder but it’s so nice to be able to throw together a school project or fancy dress costume from my crafting stash!

Jeans are great for so many projects aren’t they?
I’ve just made another plant stand for my garden from a pallet, or rather my husband has. I will have to photograph that once it’s painted.
