Summer/Autumn Update

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good summer? I thought I’d give you a bit of a summer/autumn update to let you know why it’s been so quiet here at Tea and Cake for the Soul and to tell you what’s coming up next for me and the blog.

If you’ve been following this blog for a long time, you may have seen my post earlier in the year about why I quit my job due to menopausal anxiety.  I had planned to have a bit of time out, then start up as a freelance writer alongside my blogging and social media management work.

Unfortunately, my back had other ideas and I’ve been suffering with worsening coccydynia this year. It has reached the stage where I cannot sit down for more than a few minutes without chronic pain. I am now waiting to go into hospital to have a steroid injection in my coccyx next month which I really hope is going to sort the problem.

Obviously, this has meant my writing and blogging has had to take a back seat. As a result, I haven’t been able to spend much time online and haven’t been able to follow and interact with other blogs and social either.

But instead of focusing on the negative things (I may write about that at a later date), I would like to focus on the positive things that I have been able to do.

I have:

* maintained an exercise routine of Zumba/Tae Bo, qi gong and cross trainer most days

* completed at least 10,000 steps most days

* started to learn the basics of yoga

* completed loads of household odd jobs

* given my garden a makeover including planting lots of bee friendly plants

* completed the 20 Books of Summer reading challenge

* enjoyed some lovely long phonecalls and in person meet-ups, and

* had the time to switch off and relax my mind and body.

Realistically, I think I can write off 2019 (no pun intended), but I hope that I can publish a few short posts over the coming months.

Whilst I’ve been doing the reading challenge, I’ve been making notes on the books that I’ve loved and emailed them to myseĺf, so I should be able to publish a blog post from that with only a little extra time needed. I want to share some of my reading recommendations with you during the month of September, along with my thoughts on the challenge itself.

In October I want to be able to publish some Halloween posts. I am disgustingly organised and had a few ideas from last year that are already in draft form. I should be able to work on them a little bit at a time and get them scheduled for Blogoween. Those of you who blog know just how many hours it takes to get one post ready for publishing, but I think these will be worth it!

So apologies to all the other bloggers out there who I usually support, and of course to you my readers. It’s been a very frustrating time!
