You may have seen mutterings about changing algorithms on social media with all sorts of chain messages about how to make sure you see your friends’ and pages’ posts. Here I aim to dispel some of the myths and show you how to get the most from your social media pages.
This is written with my page links but it applies to any blog, Facebook page or Twitter account that you are interested in.
If you enjoy my blog posts, I would love it if you’d follow me and would suggest taking the following steps to see my posts and get the most from your social media accounts.
1. SIGN UP FOR EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
Use the FOLLOW BLOG BY EMAIL button in the menu (on the right if viewing on desktop or at the bottom on mobile and tablet). This is a service operated by WordPress that automatically sends out an email to you each time I post.
You will get a taster email in the morning, telling you what the new blog post is about. You can either then click through if you think it’s going to interest you or simply delete if it doesn’t.
I try to post in 2-3 subjects each week with regular features appearing on the same day. You will not get spammed and your email will not be passed on to anyone else by me.
2. LIKE, FOLLOW & INTERACT ON FACEBOOK
All my blogs post automatically to Facebook. However, Facebook algorithms mean that only a very small proportion of followers get to see posts unless they interact with them.
So, the more you like or comment, the more you are likely to see my posts in your newsfeed. And the more you like and comment, the more other people will see them too.
Viewing figures show that posts with more interaction are viewed by 100s more people, as it keeps getting bumped up on people’s newsfeeds.
As the vast majority of posts are aimed at helping people in some way, you will be helping me spread the good word which is much appreciated.
You can also opt in to “Get notifications” (which means Facebook will tell you when I post) and “See First” (which allows you to chose which posts appear at the top of your newsfeed).

This applies to every Facebook Page that you “like and follow” be it a band, shop or blog so go ahead and like give a few previous posts some love. I run several band and fan pages, some of them attracting over 31,000 fans and even their posts reach less than 10% followers.
3. FOLLOW ON TWITTER
This is still pretty new for me but like Facebook, all my blogs automatically post to Twitter too. I’m still trying to master this one but I try to thank all new followers and retweeters and all interaction is appreciated.
4. FOLLOW HERE ON WORDPRESS
WordPress users can follow me here on WordPress Reader. You do not have to be a blogger to hold an account so it is a great way to follow several blogs in one place. It’s quick and easy to set up.
WordPress reader is my favourite way of reading other blogs.
5. BOOKMARK THIS BLOG & CHECK BACK REGULARLY

Of course, you can add it to your favourites on your toolbar and check back regularly.
Your continued support as always is much appreciated. It would be really helpful if you could comment below either here or on the Facebook post to let me know you’ve seen this.
I can see certain friends’ posts, those that I specifically follow on FB. It’s limited to a certain number but means that I at least get a notification when my nearest and dearest post something. Of which you are one, naturally 🙂 x
